Ever had one of those monotonous weeks where everyday was just a repeat of the day before? My week consisted of a never-ending sleep-school-revision cycle. But finally, it’s Friday! I broke the blah-boring pattern, ignoring all guilt sprung from neglecting revision, and dragged myself into town for some much needed pick-me-up retail therapy. A quick scurry around Topshop and Warehouse, but now back home, in time, for another new “New Girl” episode and a mug of piping-hot cappucino. Good stuff! xoxo
Monthly Archives: January 2012
It’s winter, and the freezing temperatures are to be expected, yet the chilly weather still confound me.
Yesterday, I hoped to take some photos for my next style post, but the cold merely forced me to return home, with few poor photographs. Today again, the frosty morning led me to dress in a very mundane black pinafore, and woolly tights. I detest the cold weather. x
Just like every girl, I crave to possess natural beauty. I have always been envious of those gloriously beautiful girls – a side-effect from my (healthy) addiction to fashion magazines – now, I fear, my envy of roll-out-of-bed-photo-ready-beautiful women is soon developing into full-fledged, desperate jealousy.
The parade of beautiful women whom I have come to admire, and perhaps even idolise is endless, and forever changing. This week, Marilyn Monroe has claimed a front row seat. Her iconic image in that incorrigible white halter-dress is unforgettable, even after fifty years, but what enchanted me most was Marilyn, sans sexy.
Friday night, Party Night, right? For me, it’s more Fri-Gay, than Fri-YAY.
With my first exam over (a very stressful Chemistry module retake), I headed to my friend’s house armed with a scrumptious takeaway and several magazines, ready to gabble about my demanding, wearisome week. We ended up drowning our surrows with chocolate chip cookies and a ukelele session; and even though my Friday night is no outrageous, spectacular party night, I still had a marvelous time. Sometimes, all you need is a little help from your friends (and the satisfaction from mastering the four chords that make up an entire ‘Noah and the Whale’ Song – my fingertips deserve a well-earned rest).
With a sad weekend of work and revision ahead of me, hope your weekend forecast is much sunnier than mine. xoxo
Anybody who knows me will know that I cannot bear wearing the exact same outfit twice, especially to social gatherings.
Although always a good converstation-starter, usually it is purely aggravating, somewhat troubling and sometimes even tedious rummaging through my wadrobe, searching for a suitable outfit. This last holiday though, not only did I wear a staple-piece twice, but I wore the same outfit repeatedly at various gatherings, only ever changing my shoes and jewllery/jacket. You may ask, which items could possibly render such loyalty from me? A simple combination sheer polka-dot button-up and gold jeans appealed to my slothfulness and still satisfied my ostentatious and sassy side. The best part was that it had been a comfortable enough ensemble for me to boogie all night! BOO YAY!
New Year, New Term; how I miss the holidays, the first week back at school and the fatigue has clouded my already-absurd judgement. Already having confusing my iPod for my calculator, mistaking the identification of simple colours (green, orange – there is little difference between them as far as I could tell) and intermittently losing my train-of-thought throughout my three days back to school, I have little confidence I will survive my imminent exams next week.
My progress on my new year’s resolution (to be less “Lazy Oaf” and more “Busy Bee”) is already slipping and sliding out of control, and I fear this weekend will again be dedicated to catching up on restful “Zzzz”. Believe it or not, however, I’m definitely glad to have my daily routine back and to regain my motivation – as evidence I have a new style post waiting to be uploaded this weekend! Hope you all had a restful holiday, and neither fretful nor stressful being back at school/work. X
